About Us

My City Mommy is a group of women across the country who are dedicated to helping you save. Whether that is through freebies, coupons, retail, drug stores, entertainment or retail deals we want to help you succeed financially.

Here is a brief glance at our Moms

Kim is the owner of My City Mommy and originally started her savings journey when she became a stay-at-home mom. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is dedicated to helping others. STL Mommy, and then My City Mommy, were a way to provide her with the best of both worlds. Kim writes daily on STL Mommy and has 3 children -  6, 3 and 2 months. She shares her experiences and journey while becoming in charge of her own personal finances and uses common ‘cents’ along the way.

My name is Laura Thornquist and I help run the MyDFWmommy.com website. I have two children, 12 and 4 and I’ve been married to my husband for 17 years. I was hugely impacted by the economy in late 2008 with job losses and transfers. That’s when I discovered a new frugal way of living. After learning valuable coupon strategies I have become hooked on “frugality”! It has changed my life and I am forever grateful.

I was in the television news industry for over 20 years and decided to get out to have more normal hours and a near normal routine for my family. I’ve worked in markets as an anchor in Billings, MT, Denver, CO and Kansas City, MO. This is how I found Kim Julian who is the “brainchild” behind the mymommy websites. She started her own blog in St. Louis and the brand is taking off like wildfire! To reach me, email me at [email protected]!

I love paying it forward to others and being a “My City Mommy” has allowed me to do so!

Now, I get to use that background and my personal experiences to show you the “tricks of the trade”! .

My name is Maggie Howes and I live in Prairieville, Louisiana which is just minutes from Baton Rouge. I have been a stay-at-home-mom for the past 10 1/2 years. I have an incredible husband, Bryan, and three beautiful daughters, Baylee, Skylar and Isabella that keep me on my toes. Being in charge of my family’s finances, I am always looking for ways to save money wherever possible. I always assumed groceries and household costs were something that I had little control over, until I was introduced to a different way of couponing!

.

My name is Ann and I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before becoming a mother to three beautiful children with one on the way, I was a teacher for the Milwaukee Public School District. That is when I started to learn that every penny counts and stretching the dollar was key. After having my first child, I decided to become a stay at home mother. This was a challenge because we really had to make everything work for our family. It was a big adjustment and I needed to start looking at ways to have fun with my children on a tight budget. One of my favorite things to do in the world is shop and oh, the rush I feel when I save a dime! I am so happy to be able to have the opportunity to “pay it forward” and share all the deals that I find with my readers.

.

My name is Jackie Landy I lived in Henderson, NV (surburbia Vegas) and now live in Oregon. I have been blessed to be a stay at home mom for the past 5 years and I am currently trying to keep it that way. I met my husband, Tony and his daughter (Mallory), in 1999 and fell in love with them instantly.  When we decided it was time to have a baby of our own, we didn’t realize we would get 2 of them at once! Yikes…twins!!! That will shake anyone’s world and turn it upside down. We decided it was time to have all the kids now because I would eventually need to go back to work. So that led us to: Mallory (13), Jack (5), Jude (5) and AJ (3). With being a household of 6 and having one income, I am always looking for ways to save money and still provide things to my kids. That is when I found “extreme couponing”. This isn’t your everyday couponing (save $1.00 here or there), this was a HUGE change and a way of life. I realized quickly that this could actually be the answer to my prayers. I also wanted to give back, so I joined this wonderful team in the summer 2009. “Extreme Couponing” gives me a sense of accomplishment like no other. It is very addicting and I love it!

.

My name is Melissa Zokoe and I am the blogger behind West Michigan Mommy. Before running this wonderful blog, I worked as a Property Manager of an Apartment Complex and I was also a Corporate Trainer. I had used coupons on and off for a few years but nothing serious. After the birth of our Son in May 2009, we wanted to stop renting and save money to purchase a house for our family. That was when I really discovered “couponing” and “stacking” and started getting items we needed and wanted for little out of pocket, some even FREE! I was constantly sharing my finds and deals with friends and family who suggested that I create a blog to organize all of these great deals. In November, West Michigan Mommy was launched. I love being able to share my finds with readers and hope that I can help others save money and live frugally, and have fun doing so!

.

We’re Margie & Mike Brill!  Margie has been an avid coupon user for over 15 years now. In June of 2009, Kim, STL Mommy invited me to join the My City Mommy family. I am thrilled to share the deals that I find on My Springfield Mommy along the side of my partner, be it a matchup, free sample, rebate or just an amazing sale that no one should pass up. Along the way you will learn more about my family including my husband Mike, who loves to help me find deals. Our daughter Maris who I joke is a couponer in training. From time to time you may even hear about our dogs and cats.

.

My name is Jodi and I live in Salt Lake City. I am a Stay at home Mom and have 2 beautiful children who are growing fast. I started this blog from my love of saving money and sharing deals with my Friends and Family. I am very excited about being part of the MyCityMommy team. My hope is to save yours and my family money. I hope we all have a good time in the process!

.

My name is Aimee Guess and I am from Bakersfield, California, I author the Save at Home Mommy aka My Bakersfield Mommy site. I am a stay-at-home-mom to my beautiful toddler Kallie, while my husband works to provide for us. I was born and raised in a Christian home, so staying honest, working hard, and having a relationship with Jesus Christ is very important to me. I graduated from California Baptist University in 2006 with a degree in teaching, but my husband and I decided that when we had children I would stay home to raise them. I am passionate about saving money and still having everything we need to live on. I love to coupon, it’s my hobby and my job. Besides working the saveathomemommy site I also make specialty cakes for events and I run a playgroup at our church. We stay very busy around here, but it’s such a blessing to do all of it. Remember that each and every day is a gift from God, do what you can to make the most of it!

.

My name is Dawn Clifton. I’m originally from Memphis, TN and I currently live in Castle Rock, CO, in between Denver and Colorado Springs. I’m the author of My Rocky Mtn Mommy. For the past 8 yrs I’ve been a Creative Memories Consultant with a passion for helping people with their photographs. I was also a web developer for over 10 years and in customer service for 10 years before that. In 1999, I was thrust into single motherhood with my beautiful now 15 yr old daughter and had no choice but to be frugal and save money wherever I could. I got remarried in 2005 to a wonderful man named Brian who wanted me to move to Colorado and be a stay-at-home mom. I loved finding deals and coupons and freebies so I continued to do so as my way of contributing to our new family. I now have an 18 mo old baby boy and have even more reason to find deals! I have always had a passion for helping people, so when I was given the opportunity to run a site for My City Mommy, I was thrilled! I love paying it forward and hope you find my site helpful and informative.

.

My name is Nadine, I’m the author of My OKC Mommy. I have been married for 8 years and have three little boys. They are 6,4, and 2. I have an associate’s degree in science and am slowly working my way towards a nursing degree. I love being a stay at home mom, but I don’t necessarily stay at home!!!!!!! My boys and I are always on the go. My oldest is already been involved in two sports, and my middle son can’t wait until he can start t-ball. If you have any questions please ask!!

.

My name is Jennifer Vaughn. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and we have two beautiful kids (7 1/2 year old girl, 3 year old boy). Our lives are full with work, school activities and spending time together.  Our family moved to the Little Rock area last fall from Oregon! We have always lived on a tight budget, however since being in Arkansas I have taken my desire to save money to a new way of life. I hope to be able to share some great deals here with you on Little Rock Mommy. Join me as I highlight events and activities around the area that won’t break the bank. And remember, with some organization, we can all save money and have fun doing it!

.

I’m Lauren, My Military Mommy & My Colorado Springs Mommy. I am a busy, bargain-hunting, child chasing military mommy. My husband and I have four children ages 11, 5, 2, and 2. (Yes I have twins going through the terrible two’s and it definitely keeps me on my toes…as well as giving me some interesting stories to tell my hubby about my day). While I have not always been the picture of frugality, I have been couponing and taking a debt free approach to finances for quite a few years. As a military mommy, I am in charge of handling my family’s finances so I have learned quite a few money saving strategies and coupon tricks of the trade to really stretch every dollar my husband brings home. In a different life, or so it seems, I was a high school Spanish teacher and volleyball coach. The birth of our twins and a PCS made it difficult for me to continue working outside the home so I am grateful to be able to do something to contribute while being a “domestic professional”. (The professional part is a stretch, a huge one if you ask my husband, but I’m trying). I started a local deals site at my last duty station and am glad to now be a part of the My Mommy City Network. I very much enjoy posting about deals I find and hearing from you so keep on sharing!

.

I am Jessica White author of My Memphis Mommy. I have been married to my wonderful husband Chris 3 years now and we have a 1 year old daughter Kaelyn. I am very grateful to be a stay at home mommy to her. I have always been a bargain shopper and started couponing just a little about 4 years ago which has now lead into my daily life. I love being able to save money for our family and make the one paycheck go as far as I can and being able to enjoy my family doing more fun things. My husband always ask wherever we go, “do you really have to take your binder in?” The answer is yes. I never know what sales or clearance items I will find and every penny counts. You always hear how expensive babies are, but I have found out with couponing, sale watching, and consignment shopping they can be much less expensive or that much more SPOILED!”

.

My name is Connie author of My Cincinnati Mommy. I was born and raised in our beloved Cincinnati, a working mother of two grown, professional, young men, who have started their own families and given me two beautiful
grandchildren, 3 years old and 10 months.

I have 20+ years of office experience and now work for a major mail processor. I work hard for my money and am always looking for ways to get the biggest bang for my buck.

My search for savings began 3 years ago, after an extended hospital stay and my employer began ‘downsizing’ and reducing my hours due to the current economy. After discovering ‘extreme couponing’ and other cost cutting measures, I began to share with family and friends and am excited to continue that through the My City Mommy network.

I truly believe in the ‘it takes a village’ philosophy and love sharing about grocery coupon deals, retail deals, and frugal family fun things to do in our beautiful city and beyond.

.

My name is Mary and I have the pleasure of running the My Chicago Mommy site!  I work full time outside the home and have a four year old son who keeps me on my toes.  He is a ball of fire all while being a sweetheart at the same time.  When my son was born, I began to really focus on saving money and living a more frugal lifestyle.  I found the wonderful world of couponing and have never looked back.  I don’t have a huge stockpile in the garage :)   I am just looking to pay the best price for the things I need and hopefully show you how to do the same.  A few freebies here and there never hurt either!

.

My name is Caroline author of My San Francisco Mommy, I’m a bargain-hunting, sun and fun-loving new mom who has an interest in all things crafts, fashion and beauty while doing so on a budget. As a “foodie” I’m frequently visiting the local farmer’s market and gourmet food truck events that occur weekly where I’ll often find healthful, wholesome and tasty meals at a fraction of the cost. Having worked in fashion as a rep for one of the major design houses where I provided fashion advice to many clients, and retail where I got to play with diamonds and watches worth more than my house, I can usually be found reading up on one of many related blogs, either on my iPhone, iPad or laptop.

I attack life’s challenges head on, and my pregnancy was no exception. From being considered high-risk to having my son 4 weeks early life is not always what you expect but fortunately for my husband & I, everything turned out for the best! As with all new moms there are always more questions than answers so I joined My San Francisco Mommy to help provide insight, and share my experiences all while passing along some really great money-saving tips. I look forward to connecting with other moms in the area and creating a community where everyone can share and benefit from each others experiences.

My name is Melissa Martínez and I run MiMamaLatina.com, serving the Hispanic community in Dallas, TX area.  I have been married for 10 years and blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, 4 and 2 years old.  I’m originally from Puerto Rico and moved to Dallas 10 years ago when I got married.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and used to work as an accountant for a huge retail store.  In 2008, with the weak economy and companies transferring their operations overseas, I was impacted and decided to be a Stay-At-Home-Mom.

With this new lifestyle of living on one salary, I discovered the beautiful world of couponing!  Looking for new ways of saving money I found MyDFWMommy.com and discovered my new hobby: couponing! Once you discover coupons you don’t want to go back and pay full price again!

On my website, I will share current saving deals around town. My goal is to start the spark and hook you to a new hobby: couponing!  I invite you to subscribe to my newsletters so you don’t miss a deal again!

0.33My name is Michelle and I am your new My Kansas City Mommy! I have 6 children; yes I said six ranging in age from 26 down to 4, 4 girls and 2 boys who keeps me on my toes, I can relate to those moms with college students down to preschooler. After closing my company in the economic downturn of 2010, I found the wonderful world of couponing and have never looked back. I am excited to be a part of the My City Mommy network. I am eager to get back to blogging about saving money through couponing and frugal living. I believe in not-so-extreme couponing. I have a few items stocked up, but am merely looking to pay the best price I can for the things my family needs and wants, all while helping you do the same with a minimal amount of time commitment. I do LOVE freebies, so you will find these on the site as well. I am a Pinterest addict and enjoy finding ways to craft and create beautiful things for my home and to give to others as well, so My Kansas City Mommy will be adding a Pinterest Page.

Although we live on a budget we still LIVE. I love helping others, I believe strongly in the principal of paying it forward. I am the President of the PTA, Chairman of Church Council and volunteer at a number of organizations. My point is, with all of this and 6 children, I still have plenty of time to save money and coupon. I would love to show you how to do the same.

I am also constantly on the look out for a cheaper way to enjoy everything Kansas City and its surrounding areas have to offer from restaurants to activities. There is so much to do all year long if you know where to look.
